Bass Point Quarry

Bass Point Quarry, located within the Shellharbour City Local Government Area, has been used for extractive industry since 1880 and produces a range of hard rock aggregates for the Sydney, Wollongong construction and industrial sectors. Products include road base, pre-coated and concrete-grade aggregates, manufactured sand, armour rock and fill materials. 

The quarry is committed to sustainable practices and is soon to commence producing materials that incorporate reused products such as concrete washout and recycled glass, supporting a more circular and environmentally responsible construction industry.

BPQ Safety week 2025
Safety Week Open Day

As part of Heidelberg Materials’ annual Safety Week, sites across the country regularly host open days and community activities to promote safety awareness and engagement.

Bass Point Quarry held its event on 17 May 2025, highlighting:

➜ Family activities: face painting, jumping castle, sand pit, pet rock crafting, children’s hand-paint mural, guessing competition and a lucky draw 

➜ Food & drinks: local food and beverage vans on site 

➜ Educational experiences: guided bus tours of the quarry, rock displays and truck showcases

Eastern Ospreys has successfully settled into a new nesting platform at Bass Point Jetty, following close collaboration between local experts and partners to ensure the birds could continue returning to the area each season.

On 27 July 2023, we celebrated National Tree Day by planting 250 native trees and shrubs, reinforcing our long-term commitment to sustainability and biodiversity.

CCC Meetings

Through quarterly Community Consultative Committee meetings, we actively listen, share project updates and collaborate with community members to ensure transparent and meaningful engagement.

Operating hours

The quarry undertakes drilling, extraction, processing, stockpiling and product despatch 24 hours a day over 7 days a week

Blasting activities are limited to 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
